How does online Quran memorization (Hifz) work?

Hifz online follows the same structure used in traditional Hifz schools: a daily new portion (Sabaq), revision of recent portions (Sabqi) and rotating revision of everything memorised so far (Manzil). The student recites each part to a Hafiz teacher over video, who corrects errors before they are memorised.

Frequently Asked Questions

It varies by student and daily commitment, but most full-time Hifz students complete it in 2-4 years of consistent study.

How our Hifz program works: Sabaq, Sabqi and Manzil

Memorising the Quran is only half of Hifz. Keeping it is the other half. Every session balances new memorisation with two levels of revision, the method used in Hifz schools for generations.

Sabaq: the new lesson

The new portion you memorise each day, from a few lines to a page or more depending on your age, pace and the time you can give. You recite it to your teacher until it is perfect.

Sabqi: recent revision

The portions you memorised over the past few days or weeks, revised daily so they settle into long-term memory before they can fade.

Manzil: long-term revision

A rotating revision of everything you have memorised so far, so that the first juz stays as strong as the last one you learned.

Choose a pace that fits your life

Part-time Hifz

A few lines a day around school or work, with steady revision. Ideal for adults and children who want to memorise consistently without a full-time schedule.

Surah by surah

Memorise selected surahs such as Juz Amma, Surah Yaseen, Surah Al-Mulk or Surah Al-Kahf, a meaningful goal in itself and a strong foundation for full Hifz later.

Full Hifz

A structured plan to memorise the whole Quran, with daily targets and regular progress checks, juz by juz. Your teacher adjusts the plan as your pace becomes clear.

Memorisation techniques we teach

Small portions, many repetitions

Each verse is read many times while looking, then recited from memory, before joining it to the verses around it. Many methods use this pattern, including the popular 6446 method, and your teacher adapts the number of repetitions to how quickly you memorise.

One mushaf, always

Memorising from the same printed Quran every time means you remember where each verse sits on the page. Visual memory is a powerful support.

Listen before you memorise

Listening to a clear recitation of the portion before you start makes memorising faster and helps keep your Tajweed correct.

Understand what you memorise

Knowing the meaning of the verses you are memorising makes them easier to remember and more meaningful to recite in prayer.

Before you start Hifz

To memorise accurately, you should be able to read the Quran fluently with correct pronunciation. If you're not there yet, it's best to build that foundation first, and your teacher will assess this in the free trial.
